Your Reported Symptoms
Important: A definitive diagnosis of TMJ disorder requires in-person clinical evaluation including assessment of jaw range of motion, muscle palpation, joint sounds, and cervical spine examination. If your results suggest possible TMJ disorder, we recommend scheduling a proper evaluation with a qualified clinician.
Clinical Basis
The questions in this assessment are based on the Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders (DC/TMD) Axis I pain screener, the gold-standard validated clinical protocol for TMJ disorder identification. The DC/TMD demonstrates sensitivity of ≥0.86 and specificity of ≥0.98 for pain-related TMD. Reference: Schiffman E, et al.
